Sharedien–first Spirit Connector: Seamless asset integration without media discontinuity

FirstSpirit is established as a powerful content management system in many medium-sized and large companies. At the same time, a digital asset management system (DAM) such as Sharedien is used for images, videos, and other digital assets—as a central platform for managing, versioning, and governing media content.

Both systems are powerful in their own right. In practice, however, a structural problem arises: FirstSpirit and Sharedien do not have native integration. The result is media islands – with a direct impact on efficiency, quality, and brand integrity.

The status quo: Media breaks cost time, money, and trust

Without a direct connection between CMS and DAM, editors have to:

  1. Search for assets in the DAM (Sharedien)
  2. Download them locally to their own computers
  3. Manually re-upload them to the CMS (FirstSpirit)

This workflow is not an isolated case, but a reality in many system landscapes that we encounter in customer projects at asioso. The consequences are serious:

  • High manual effort and slow editorial processes
  • Duplicate files and inconsistent asset statuses
  • Loss of connection to the source (DAM)
  • Lack of transparency regarding asset usage

Particularly critical: Changes in the DAM—such as new image versions, legal corrections, or brand adjustments—are not automatically updated in the CMS.

The consequences are outdated content on websites, faulty campaigns, 404 pages in the funnel, and thus real reputation and revenue risks.

The asioso solution: A decisive smart integration

Based on these challenges, asioso developed the Sharedien–FirstSpirit Connector: seamless, secure, and high-performance integration that connects DAM and CMS directly with each other.

Assets from Sharedien can thus be used directly in FirstSpirit without any intermediate steps – including metadata, versioning, rights, and governance logic.

Wichtig dabei:

  • Neither FirstSpirit nor Sharedien offer this integration themselves.
  • The connector is asioso IP, developed from real project requirements for complex enterprise environments.

It is not a “small interface,” but a crucial building block for stable, scalable content architectures.

More than just a feature: business impact for editorial, brand, and IT

The Sharedien–FirstSpirit Connector addresses not only technical symptoms, but also business-critical risks:

Increased efficiency in everyday editorial work

Editorial teams work directly with approved DAM assets – without downloads, without multiple maintenance. This significantly reduces manual effort and accelerates time-to-market.

Brand safety & process security

Assets can only be deleted or modified in the DAM if they are no longer used in the CMS. This protects your brand from:

  • missing images
  • broken pages
  • inconsistent campaigns
  • legally problematic old versions

Full transparency for main editorial teams

Main editors can see at any time where and how an asset is used in the CMS. On this basis, uses can be specifically controlled, coordinated, and cleanly dismantled – in accordance with roles and rights.

Security for IT and digital managers

The integration fits neatly into existing architectures, reduces system breaks, and increases the future-proofing of your platform landscape.
